Splitting my time between Lindenhurst (dad) and Quogue (sister). The Girlfriend will be with me too- meeting The Family for the first time.

Sometimes I don't even want to tell em I'm coming out. Everything is planned for me when I get there- visit this cousin, that uncle, lets go to upstate NY and hang out with the step sister- that leaves hardly any time to actually relax, see friends, go to my old haunts in NYC.

So, aside from LI not even being a nice place to visit in some ways, where would you drag visitors to? There is a desire to see Ellis Island and montauk point, and maybe Huntington or Northport, but that's a lot of traveling in 6 days.

              Lindenhurst ?

              ugh...
Montauk, or at least the hamptons, east hampton is ok to be a tourist.
              kida crappy in winter though.
there is also always the beach. there aren't beaches like LI anywhere really. Fl, WEst coast, not as nice.

i mean sure LA was nice last week at 77 degrees, but you get on the sand and its over, you're in the water in less than 50 yards, and there are all these houses everywhere. sand has rocks on most beaches, and they aren't as big as Fire Island

the super white soft sand, possibly brunch at Jones boardwalk (?not sure it is open, possibly being renovated?), probably the nice unique thing LI has other than the Hamptons, and not as far.

I dunno, but if you want ot show them what makes LI bearable, the beach is it, no?

I grew up in Lindenhurst and we called it Lindenhurt.
                or Lindenfuck.

I hated it. Could not wait to leave after high school. Lasted like 90 days then moved out.

Yeah- Fire island is on the short list. Never thought about jones beach.
I really do like the beaches on LI better than anywhere else. Baja is pretty damn cool though- clear water, coral reefs, all sorts of fish.
but for beach sand and the horizon, I LI the best....
Hanging out in the city really limited my 'discovery' of LI. then again, growing up anywhere you get kinda sick of it.
